Dear Members of the SAG-AFTRA New Orleans (Louisiana & Mississippi) Local,
As I step forward to request your trust, your vote, and your shared vision in the upcoming local President election, I am keenly aware that our community spans not just New Orleans, but the entirety of Louisiana and Mississippi. It's with this expansive, inclusive perspective that I aim to strengthen our local film and television industry and build upon the immense amount of local talent.
With a decade of international executive board experience and a track record of successful contract negotiations with major companies, I am prepared to champion our rights. My dedication to advocating for improved health and pension benefits, fair residuals, and clear, accessible education within our union is unwavering.
Inclusivity and dialogue will be cornerstones of my presidency. I aim to be a voice for all members, an approachable advocate ready to stand up for your needs with both Producers and the Union. I am committed to fostering an environment where you feel empowered to voice your concerns and contribute to shaping our shared future.
Safety on set is non-negotiable. I will work relentlessly to enhance safety standards and ensure that producers are held accountable for the well-being of our members. Fair treatment regarding wages, length of days, and adherence to contracts will be a significant focus, ensuring that all commitments made by producers are upheld.
The recent passing of a new round of Tax Incentives by the State of Louisiana presents a fantastic opportunity. With strong leadership, we can encourage more productions than ever to film in our local area, and even establish permanent studios throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. Such development will ensure long-term, stable employment for our members and solidify our region as a thriving hub for film and television production.
It's crucial to address the disproportionate influence that other Locals have had on our industry, often to the detriment of our own area. As your President, I will advocate for greater balance and fairness, using my negotiation skills and experience to ensure that our Local is given its due respect and consideration.
As a candidate, my objective is clear. I aim to serve you, represent your interests, and work towards a prosperous future for our union locally. Your vote will count towards this vision. Let's stand together for a stronger SAG-AFTRA New Orleans local and beyond.
